Poverty Alleviation Program
The common features of BRDB micro-credit programs are:
i) group formation of defined poor people: co-operatives and informal groups;
ii) training of group members in group cohesion, skill development and awareness
about environment ;
iii) provision of credit for income generation activities;
iv) close monitoring through weekly meeting ;
v) compulsory savings for capital formation;
vi) approximately 100% recovery rate;
vii) increased women participation (more than 50% in all programs)
Under this component the Board has organized 36880 BSS, MBSS and informal groups and
237 TBCCAs with about 1.5 million members. These societies and groups accumulated an
amount of Taka 745.4 million as share and savings.BRDB disbured an amount of Taka 10293.46
million as micro-credit among the membres and the recovery rate is 98%
