Mainstream and Agriculture Development Programs

Expansion and Strengthening of Agriculture and Irrigation activities in Tangail district through Co-operatives.

This is the follow-up project of the erstwhile Tangail Agricultural Development Project (TADP) implemented by the board with the assistance of GTZ from July 1982 to June 1990. This project covers all the eleven thanas of the district and involves a cost of Taka 21.8 million including a revolving loan fund Taka 14.61 million. The entire cost of the project is being borne by the Govt. of Bangladesh. The objectives of the project include increase of food production through irrigation and alleviation of poverty through creation of employment opportunities in the agriculture sector. So far 6600 members of 165 KSS have been disbursed an amount of Taka 14.54 million as loan from revolving fund and the loan recovery is 99%.
