Organisation And Management As the main national
organization for poverty alleviation in the rural areas, the future task of BRDB will
necessarily include to clarify and decide policy issues for poverty alleviation programs,
to work out development strategies, issue guidelines on systems and procedures, and
monitor progress. To be able to fulfil its new role BRDB needs institutional support in
developing systems and strategies, initiate adoption of technologies and methods, gather
and disseminate information, organize platforms for exchange of ideas and experience
establish national and international networks. To improve the quality of BRDB contribution
to rural development, the institution building activity has to be a continuous process
institutionalization within the organization.
To build and strengthen the capability of BRDB in carrying out its rural poor programs
a Technical Assistance Project (TAP) entitled "BRDB Institutional Support (BIS)"
is implementting by BRDB with financial and technical assistance from Swedish
International Development Corporation (SIDA) since 1994. During the last five years BIS
carried out 16 studies/ surveys on various issues of rural development and poverty
alleviation such as credit, banking, income generating activities, skill/staff training,
rural enterprise development, gender development, group sustainability of rural poor
program and other institutional issues of BRDB. So far BIS has published 29 reports
including studies workshop reports. Besides a quarterly BRDB bulletin is published on
regular basis highlighting news, articles, success stories and other vital issues related
to rural development and poverty alleviation as well as activities of BRDB.
